This blog is about my life and my adventures. The first– getting married! I was married to my best friend on December 18, 2010 and the second adventure starts just three short weeks after we say “I do!” I’ll be leaving for Commissioned Officer Training (COT) just 23 days after our wedding.

On January 10, 2011 I’ll be at the Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, AL for 4.5 weeks of COT in the 11-02 class. Here I will learn the ways of the Air Force- history & leadership to how to wear a uniform and salute! Following graduation I will head to Scottsdale, AZ for 10 weeks in the Nurse Transition Program where I will learn all about being not only a nurse, but a nurse in the United States Air Force. Finally, mid-April I will be reunited with my new husband, Stacy, as we set up house in Biloxi, MS at the Keesler AFB where I will be a Labor & Delivery nurse in their Family Birthing Center.

I hope this is a place for family and friends to see what’s going on with me, what my experiences are like, and how this very busy time for me is going. I also hope to put out helpful and useful information about the AF Nurse Corps and what it’s like! I had to do lots of searching to find out what to expect and what I’m getting into.. and there’s still SO much I have no idea about!

Hi Katy, I’m interested in joining the Airforce as a commissioned officer, just want to know how was your journey (in detail please, I’m trying to get a feel of what to expect) when you first started OTS up to now since you have been in for a few years. How was Maxwell AFB, was the PT hard and what should I expect because I’m struggling at this point to do push ups and running. Any advice /motivation. What are your work hours like, do you have any regrets for joining. I have lots of unanswered questions. Please help! Look forward to talking to you real soon. Thanks
